What is a Track

A Track is the fundamental unit of analysis in Vaipm. Vaipm uses the concept of Tracks to organize what to analyze and at what level of granularity. Think of it not as a container for a set number of questions, but as a unit that defines which target, which questions, and which grouping to analyze

How to segment scope

For example, you can view the entire company as a single target. But in many cases, segmenting by department, brand, or product is more natural. The Track determines how much to include in a single analytical unit. When the scope is too broad, questions tend to become unfocused. Segmenting allows you to capture comparisons, recommendations, narratives, and risks more concretely

Both a pricing unit and a design unit

Tracks matter because they affect both analysis quality and ease of adoption. In some cases, viewing the entire company as one Track is natural. In others, separating multiple brands or products makes more sense. A Track is simultaneously a pricing unit and a design unit for how to frame perception challenges. When this is unclear, information may accumulate without leading to decisions

Start small and expand

Vaipm is designed so you can start small and expand as needed. Starting with fine-grained segmentation is not always the right approach. What matters is asking 'what is the most meaningful unit to analyze right now?' Whether to start company-wide, by department, or by brand/product depends on the questions you want to answer. This is why Tracks are central to both Try Vaipm and Pricing

The Vaipm perspective

Deciding what to treat as a single unit clarifies the necessary scope, priorities, and where to start. Tracks are the foundational design that makes Vaipm easy to understand, easy to start, and easy to expand
